Okay, I admit it. I’m the worst at blogging.
I’m going to try it again, this time with almost daily posts.
I’ve got a project coming out soon, all about London’s history. I can’t say much more than that right now – but soon! In the meanwhile, I’ll post a daily item from my London Research project here.
Today’s Entry: APPRENTICES in England. Their term of service usually lasted 7 years, during which time they were to learn their trade. An apprentice could not marry until his service was completed. Many apprentices were treated well but, alas, some had a harder time of it, living in near slave-like circumstances. Compulsory apprenticeships were abolished in 1814.
